I have heard many people make the comment at a funeral, “I will see them again one day!”

Many times I consider the truth of 1 John 5:11 and wonder, “Will you now?”

Assuming that the deceased is going to heaven is a nice thought, but it puts us in a position to be another person’s judge. We must realize that it is Christ’s — and only Christ’s — position to judge where we spend eternity.

What about you?

Are you certain that you have eternal life? Have you honestly decided to take this scripture seriously and accept the gift the God gave us in Jesus?

How do you answer the question Matthew 27:22 poses: “What am I supposed to do with Jesus, who is called Christ?”

Do you believe that Jesus came to save us from ourselves?

Look back at your life and the things you have done and realize that you honestly need Jesus Christ’s forgiveness. Strive to make changes in your life. Cling to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Yes, God has given us eternal life — by giving us His Son, Jesus. Jesus is the key to our eternity.
