The disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
“If you want joy, real joy, wonderful joy, let Jesus come into your heart….”
“There is joy in serving Jesus….”
“The joy of the LORD is my strength….”
“Joy to the world — the LORD has come. Let earth receive her king….”
“I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart….”
“Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee….”
“It is joy unspeakable and full of glory….”
See the pattern?
The key to possessing joy — the key to living a joy-filled life — doesn’t have anything to do with what you have. Joy is possible because of Who you have.
Joy is what happens when the Holy Spirit is living in you and working through you.
Joy isn’t something that can be bought. It isn’t a by-product or the result of a career move, designer clothes, a house in the “right” neighborhood, or a hefty bank account. Joy involves simply living according to your heart-felt belief that no matter what happens, God is in control. Knowing that God always has your best interest at heart is the essence of a joyful life.
If you want joy, real joy, wonderful joy, let Jesus come into your heart.
When am I most joyful? Am I trying to find joy in things other than God?
Dear God, It’s difficult to feel joyful when I hurt. It’s actually impossible to feel joy on my own. Only You, God, can bring joy to my life. Please fill my life with Your eternal joy. In Jesus’ name I pray and rejoice, Amen.
