When We All Get To Heaven

Romans 8:22-23, 26
For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body. In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
I love the hymn “When We All Get to Heaven.”
The chorus proclaims:
When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!
The song calls our attention to a time when our struggles are over and we can finally spend eternity with the One who loves us most: Jesus.
The tune is upbeat, while the words rally the singer to keep going, even though the storms of life may cloud the sky for a little while, it will all be worth it once Jesus comes to take us home.
The song’s message is one of hope, full of joy and anticipation for what is to come, when all death and sorrow is gone, and we will never be separated from God or our loved ones again.
There is so much sadness and hopelessness in the world that sometimes it’s hard to believe it will ever get better. But God, through the Holy Spirit, gives us hope that it won’t always be this way. He comforts us and, like today’s verse says, “makes intercession for us.”

Dear God, Thank You for giving us Your Holy Spirit, who is actively praying for me right now. Thank You for promising to come back and take me home one day. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
