When I was a kid, I had one desire that ruled above all others for years.

Like a lot of little girls, I loved horses, except I never grew out of it as my parents thought I would. Year after year, a horse was at the top of Christmas and birthday wish lists. I jumped at any chance I got to be around horses. I prayed for one, thought of them, read about them, and eventually worked with them. I eagerly pursued this desire I had, not caring what I had to give to fulfill it.

As I’ve grown, I still love horses, but something else has become the focus of my desire. Now, what I eagerly seek after, and strive to put first in my life is God.

Matthew 6:33 advises us to eagerly seek after God’s Kingdom and His righteousness. God desires for us to seek Him above all else and for our hearts to be focused on Him. Just as I, year after year, took every chance I could to be around horses, God wants us to yearn for Him and take any chance we get to be near Him.

The more we get to know Him, the more eager we are for His Kingdom to come and for all to experience His love.
