“My boy, you’re going to die,” the doctor told 17-year-old Fred who lay weak and exhausted on his bed.

Tuberculosis, the dread disease from which most never recover, was the diagnosis. Every time Fred tried to talk his raspy voice could only force out a few words.

“No, doctor, I will not die!” he wheezed. “I made a deal with God that if He healed me, I would go anywhere and do anything He asked of me.”

The atheistic doctor shook his head. “You have a very short time.”

Fred had given his life to God. He was faithful in sharing his Friend with everyone he met. He knew God could and would heal him. Sure enough, in a short time he rose from his bed and walked to the doctor’s office.

Unbelieving, the doctor X-rayed him twice before acknowledging that Fred was completely healed. When I heard this story, Fred had traveled the world in service for God and was still active at 89.

While not all difficulties resolve in the way we might choose, we can be confident that no problem is too great for Jesus. He may send things in a different direction, appear to delay His answer, or give us what we ask, but only He knows the best way to overcome our obstacles.
