Do you ever look around you and question why we do what we do?

Why do we strive for a perfect-looking life? Why do we feel discontent with the way the world is going?

I will be one of the first to say I often have to reevaluate what I am doing. I waste time on social media, complaining about little things, or worrying about trivial matters. When I step back and really look at my life, the moments that have mattered the most are the ones where I invested in people and in God’s work.

The truth that we know deep down, but from which society has distracted us, is that we were not made for this world. We were made for eternal life in a new world.

We are to live as we are told in Titus 1:2, “in hope of eternal life, which God, who can’t lie, promised before time began.” We are discontent with the things of this world because God created us for more.

Since we were created for eternity, we can start living for it now by focusing our minds on God and the ways of His kingdom. Living for God not only brings us joy now, but also prepares us to receive His promise of eternity.
