List by Ami Hendrickson
The poetry of the songs in Psalms have blessed God’s people for thousands of years, bringing hope and comfort in every imaginable situation.
I will call to God when I am overwhelmed
Hear my cry, God. Listen to my prayer. From the end of the earth, I will call to you when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
God’s commandments are the antidote to trouble
Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me. Your commandments are my delight.
God comforts and brings me delight
In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.
God answers and delivers
I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
God wants to carry my burdens
Cast your burden on the LORD and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.
When I am afraid I will trust in God
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
God frees me from distress
Out of my distress, I called on the LORD. The LORD answered me with freedom.
God helps when I am in trouble
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling. Selah.
I choose to be confident and patient
I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for the LORD.
