The Ark of the Covenant housed God’s presence.

It traveled with the Israelites through the wilderness and into the Promised Land. When David became king, he wanted to give God a better residence, to build Him a temple.

It was a lovely idea. David had a beautiful heart. Yet God told him “No.”

Perhaps David remembered the mistakes of the king before him who had good intentions as well. On occasion, King Saul had gone about doing things in a way God told him not to. He lost his life because of it.

David knew great ideas and good hearts were not enough to guarantee success. God has to be involved.

For almost ten years, I’ve had what I thought was a good plan. Once my youngest was in school full time I planned to go back to teaching, pay off debts, and save for kids’ college expenses.

Spring, 2020, I applied for jobs. Then a week later, the COVID-19 quarantine began. My job was pulled. I was left in the dark.

As school classrooms closed in my state, my children were forced into online classes. My original plan clearly was wrong. So even now I’m trusting God to build my children’s futures. He has a plan. I’m just praying for how I should be a part of it.
