How did John solve his anger?

Simple. He let Jesus handle it.

John’s anger was legendary. He was so known for his temper that Jesus nicknamed him “a son of thunder.” Once, John was so angry when people in Samaria did not accept Jesus, he wanted to call down fire from heaven to kill them (see Luke 9:54).

In the end, John changed and became known as the apostle of love.

John was close to Jesus all the time. He was one of Jesus’ three closest disciples. He was with Jesus when Jesus was on the cross. Other disciples ran away, but John stayed and saw Jesus’ love in action — suffering till death for John’s salvation.

In short, John let Jesus’ love handle all his problems, including anger. Thus, eventually, John became the author of the Gospel of John as well as the epistles of 1, 2, and 3 John, and Revelation. Within the pages of those books of the Bible, we can find the love he found from Jesus. Anger is no longer there!
