I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
I was desperate: in between jobs with no prospects in sight.
A friend stopped by on his way to work. His friend’s vegan restaurant needed a chef and he had submitted my name.
Huh? Me? I could barely spell v-e-g-a-n. At the time, I wasn’t even a full-fledged vegetarian!
“By the way,” he tossed over his shoulder as he rushed off, “he will need two or three samples each of vegan appetizers, entrees, and desserts. I’ll stop by later today to pick them up.”
After I got over my shock, I realized there was only one thing I could do: trust God!
Today’s verse sprang to mind and I clung to it as to dear life. Eying the clock, I knelt on the kitchen floor and prayed. I needed to believe. I challenged myself, “Why would God have promised it unless He meant it?”
I stood up, ready to do my part, asking His guidance for every decision made during each step of the process.
I had no recipes to follow, yet prepared a spread that not only got me the needed job but eventually allowed me to become an owner as well. That experience helped convince me that “all things” means ALL things. God can bless us through any bind in which we may find ourselves.
What seemingly impossible situation hinders my walk? How will I trust that situation today to God’s promise?
Dear Savior, Thank You for saving me for Your eternal Kingdom. Please also save me in “all things” in my daily trials of life. In Your name I pray, Amen.
