For he says, “At an acceptable time I listened to you, in a day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation.
2 Corinthians 6:2
Nataly told a story of when she and her family were making their way from Russia to the United States. Part of that journey took them to Australia where they stayed in temporary refugee housing.
One day while they were there her dad took her on a free tour of Sydney Opera House. After the tour the man who had served as their tour guide bought them ice cream and took a picture of her family. Nataly was a teenager at the time and was less than thrilled with the events of the day, so when the man snapped the picture, she made sure she had an angry expression on her face.
Nataly and her family eventually made it to the United States and enjoyed a comfortable life. Now Nataly says she cherishes that picture, because it reminds her of the fact that your situation doesn’t have to dictate your attitude. She says that picture taught her how to be OK even when life isn’t OK. She says the picture reminds her how important it is “… to embrace what is rather than always look for happiness somewhere in the future.”
Dare to boldly declare that you are now standing strong against the power of darkness because Jesus is the Light of the world and He also listens to you now. “Now is the day of salvation!”
Pray: Lord, help me to enjoy with what I have now. Empower me to live to give, and to choose to be happy with You even my situations are not OK. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
