Not by Might, Nor by Power

by Pastor Ken

Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, “This is the LORD’s word to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD of Hosts.“

Zechariah 4:6

For those who came back from Babylonian captivity, it seemed impossible to them that they could actually rebuild the temple and restart their nation. They returned to their hometown filled with doubt; not quite knowing where or how to start over.

But God, always ready and willing to help us in our time of need, gave them a vision; telling them not to worry. He told them it could be done—not by might, nor by power, but by God’s Spirit.

When you are feeling overwhelmed and frustrated because you don’t feel you have the power, energy, or resources to deal with your situation, don’t worry about it. God promises us that He would accomplish all the tasks through the Holy Spirit if we will just let Him do so.

Even if you aren’t currently resting in God’s love and grace, don’t worry. Instead, if you will completely depend on God’s power through the Holy Spirit, you can rebuild God’s ‘temple’ in your heart.

Father, today, help me to experience the power of the Holy Spirit, by depending completely on Your Almighty Power. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
