Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.
In the US, today is National Bosses Day, a time for employees to recognize and express appreciation to their bosses. What does the Bible say about bosses and employees? You can apply these remarks to the church, government, or workplace.
If you are an employee
Respect your boss. Treat your boss the way you expect him or her treat you (Golden Rule).
Represent Jesus at your work and pray for your boss.
Get the job done far better than your boss expects.
Appreciate the opportunity to work with your boss.
Work wholeheartedly, as if you work for God.
Be trustworthy, no stealing of time or money.
Show humility. Do not take advantages of a God-fearing boss.
If you are a boss
Treat your employees the way you expect them to treat you (Golden Rule).
Be a servant like Jesus. Look for your reward from God.
Listen to them and provide what they need.
Help them to enjoy working with you.
Give fair wages with honesty and integrity.
Remember that God entrusted them to you.
Show humility and be their example.
Today, whether you are a stay at home mom or CEO, remember you are working for the Greatest Boss ever: Jesus.
help me to be a friendly person
so people are happy to work with me.
Help me do my job ten times better than expected.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
