But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:10
Have you ever prayed about a situation or circumstance and then had a ‘gut feeling’ or a little voice in the back of your mind prompting you one way or the other? Or have you ever been wrestling with a decision and had those same things happen?
Often times these things are more than ‘just’ feelings. They are the promptings of the Holy Spirit. They are God’s way of pulling us toward His will or warning us away from something we shouldn’t do.
Sometimes, however, these thoughts and feelings are our own sinful nature leading us into sin. We want to go one way when the right and Godly thing to do would be to go the other.
So how do we know which is which? By asking God to reveal His Spirit to us through prayer and by measuring our thoughts and feelings in comparison to what the Bible has to say. When we do these things God’s desires are made know to us. And when that happens, we know we are headed in the right (and best) direction.
Pray: God, Help me listen to and trust you for all things. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
