The LORD’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.
When I was a child I walked to and from school each day. There were seven or eight of us who walked together. One by one we arrived at our houses until only Rita and I were left to walk the final two blocks. I have great memories of walking with my friends. I also remember that at each of our houses (and a few others) our parents had put a sign in the front window that said, A SAFE PARENT LIVES HERE.
The signs had been made especially for our school parent organization for the purpose of providing a safe place for children walking to and from school to go in case they got hurt, sick, or were experiencing stranger-danger.
In spite of the fact that my friends and I knew each other’s moms and knew we would be safe in each other’s homes, there was an added element of comfort and security knowing we had a ‘strong tower’ to run to if we needed it.
You have a safe place to run to, as well—and you don’t really even have to run. All you have to do is call out to the LORD and ask Him for help. He is always there and will never let you down. Not ever. The LORD is ready, willing, and able to be your safe place in all ways in all things and at all times.
DO IT: What are you afraid of? What temptations do you need to run from? Call out to the LORD and ask Him to protect you and provide you with the strength to resist temptation.
