“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed.”
The lesson in the parable is this: Great things grow from small beginnings in your life. The kingdom of God, which is your relationship with Jesus, initially starts small in your heart, but grows to be the biggest part of your life. It grows to become not something you do, but rather who you are.
Like the mustard seed, it starts as a tiny seed and grows into the most obvious aspect of your life.
When you initially accept Jesus in your heart, He may only fill a mustard seed-sized hole in your heart, but when you grow into a more intimate relationship with Him, Jesus becomes your whole life. “Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase” (Job 8:7).
Remember Jesus’ promise to you today:
“Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.”
Missionary William Carey said: “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.”
Start small with Jesus but don’t stop there. Grow as a mustard-tree seed grows so you can reach otherwise unreachable dreams, for with Him all things are possible (Matthew 19:26, Luke 1:37).
