The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
Genesis 2:18, 24
United. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three completely unique beings, having three different purposes, yet, unified as one. That mystery is God’s. Perhaps, no earthly thing can truly compare to such an otherworldly idea. But perhaps marriage is a close comparison - two completely unique beings, created to fulfill different needs, united in purpose, in the heart.
Man needs a woman. A woman needs a man. Similarly, children need parents. Christians need the church body. Humans need camaraderie. We need each other! We need encouragement. We need help. We need reprimands. We need directing. We need hugs. Those things all require others.
We were built to be unified with people. God set us up for families, a place to start those relationships growing so that one day we can be fully united with Him.
